Hi, everyone! One of the most rewarding things about Off Broadway Boutique is the chance friendships that are made within our glitzy walls. In selling fabulous glamour through our glimmering jewelry, audacious fashions, and eye-catching accessories, we have successfully caught the attention of passerby for over 50 years – as was the case with the delightful Ron Albanese, a successful usher who is currently working with Billy Crystal’s upcoming revival of his one-man Broadway show, 700 Sundays.
Upon spying the autographed photo of Elizabeth Taylor among our Wall of Stars at our entrance, Ron was compelled to inquire about borrowing it to make a copy to add to his personal collection. Immediately spying The Countess of Glamour, Lynn Dell, seated at her usual front table, he stated his case while emphasizing how big a fan he is of the late movie legend and trailblazing AIDS activist. Just as huge a fan, she informed him that Ms. Taylor was, indeed, a customer at Off Broadway Boutique and proceeded to share a few stories about her. After agreeing to lend the photograph to Ron, Lynn Dell invited him to sit and chat after he returned from the copy store.
Although Ron had returned with it as promised about 20 minutes, it was his charming demeanor and compelling background that truly impressed The Countess of Glamour. Having started out as a model and actor, he had decided to follow his heart into a career behind the scenes on Broadway – a decision that provided him a true appreciation of star power, which he’d readily recognized in our Lynn Dell. In addition to sharing a love of the Great White Way, both possessed a passionate appreciation for the glamour that is depicted at Off Broadway Boutique. After a lengthy discussion about their lives, loves, and dreams, Ron declared with conviction that Lynn Dell “is a blessing to the Upper West Side”.
Before leaving our shop, we asked Ron to share his thoughts online about his stepping inside Off Broadway Boutique and meeting the fabulous Countess of Glamour after he’d invited us to connect with him. The result was a sincere recommendation on our LinkedIn page that truly captured her heart:
Lynn is one of the greatest Lady’s on the island of Manhattan that remains in the retail business world…and, remains in the exact same boutique for decades and decades. She Is An Icon… She is highly intelligent, highly gifted in fashion, incredibly kind and sweet to her entire staff… and, everyone, and anyone who walks through the entrance of her boutique door. You will see her designs, and photos of her designs, in books, magazines, and most local and international newspapers. And, many, she is actually in them. -Along side of that… She has had most and big names of Broadway/Hollywood/and off-broadway in her boutique shopping and having a grand time through all these decades…! ~ Even My Dearest Beloved, Elizabeth Taylor was shopping in her fabulous boutique… Lynn is extremely dear to me, and has a very special place in my heart… May Almighty God Always Keep Her Close To His Heart … as He has always … and, will always.
